Objectives and competences

This postgraduate course prepares students to address behavioural addictions and psychological manipulation on both a theoretical and practical level through clinical and educational examples. The programme offers the necessary knowledge and tools to carry out intervention and guidance tasks, as well as prevention actions and assessment of cases.

Objectives and competences

Objectives

General objective:
- Acquire expert training in behavioural addictions and psychological manipulation.

Specific objectives:
- Comprehensively understand behavioural addictions and psychological manipulation.
- Master the vocabulary used by affected persons, according to the typologies.
- Correctly examine the patient, bearing in mind the indicators that may help with the diagnosis.
- To understand and be able to apply the most appropriate assessment instruments according to the type of addiction.
- To design and do interviews to patients with behavioural pathologies or to their families following the corresponding protocol.
- To acquire an understanding of the tools to design intervention programmes, for professionals with a clinical profile.
- Learn the strategies to apply intervention programmes that encompass psychological guidance, for professionals with a profile oriented towards prevention and education.
- Follow up and assess the intervention procedures.
- Provide guidance to families and other professionals.
- Design and implement prevention measures with groups.
- To design and draw up reports when there are legal implications.

Recommended applicant profile

- Degree holders in psychology or medicine (specially in the specialities of family medicine, pediatrics and psychiatry) who work in the prevention of and intervention in behavioural disorders, in healthcare, education or social care.
- Nursing graduates.

Access requirements and conditions

The course is also open to students with no prior university education, who will acquire the same knowledge and skills and receive a specific qualification for their learner group. Information on the access requirements and other conditions can be obtained from the course directors.
