Objectives and competences
This specialization course for gemmology professionals aims to deepen participants' existing knowledge of synthetic gemstones, their treatments and artificial products from all perspectives. The practical part focuses on knowledge of the maximum possible number of these gems to identify them correctly. It also provides students with knowledge of new techniques and equipment, some of which is located within the scientific and technological services of the University of Barcelona and the School of Gemmology itself.

Applicants with an interest in identifying and understanding synthetic and treated gemstones, and in acquiring a more detailed understanding of the different synthesis techniques for these materials.Students with a university degree obtain an advanced university diploma, while those without a university degree receive a university extension certificate.
Access requirements: receive the title of gemmologist.
Access requirements and conditions
