Objectives and competences

This course consists of two one-year modules that students enrol in separately. During the training stage, students must demonstrate theoretical and practical knowledge about precious stones or gems, as well as the correct use of the standard gemmology laboratory equipment and scientific apparatus available at the University of Barcelona, which they may be called upon to use in the future. Through the course, students will acquire the knowledge they need to identify and characterize gemstones and to prepare technical reports and gemmological certificates so that these skills can be applied in professional practice.
