Objectives and competences

The MCFI has trained more than 2600 professionals who today develop different activities related to the functioning of the International Business and Trade, the development of new markets, foreign trade, international finance and E-Commerce platforms. The programme makes use of a blended learning approach which combines face-to-face classes with virtual tools so that students get the most out of the course. It is intended both for people who want to enter the world of international business and those seeking to further their professional careers by increasing their level of knowledge.

Objectives and competences


- To acquire professional training in foreign trade and international business, a sector with excellent prospects.
- To acquire comprehensive training in international trade and finance with a broad business vision.
- To gain an understanding of how the international economy, international markets, international marketing and foreign trade finance options work.
- To master the basic principles of the sector in order to develop competences in the internationalization of companies and international management (export, logistics, distribution, marketing, operations, sales, etc.).

- People interested in working in the internationalization of companies (traditional or digital).
- People interested in steering their professional careers towards a role in the international management of export companies.
- Professionals who wish to move into international markets, entrepreneurs and company directors who wish to internationalize their business.

Access requirements and conditions

The course is also open to students with no prior university education, who will acquire the same knowledge and skills and receive a specific qualification for their learner group. Information on the access requirements and other conditions can be obtained from the course directors.

Observations:Face-to-face classes (non-compulsory) in Spanish on Thursday and Friday, from 6.30 to 9 p.m., and Saturday from 10.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. in the first year and Monday to Wednesday, from 6.30 to 9.30 p.m. in the second year (these classes are recorded on video and made available to students weekly on the Virtual Campus, where all of the material in digital format can be found).

The masters programme makes use of its own methodology approach focusing on research and practical training. It combines traditional and digital training to meet students' needs and is compatible with professional activities, making it possible to participate in work placements through university-company educational cooperation agreements.

Face-to-face classes are multidisciplinary, taught by professors at the University of Barcelona and also by professionals in the business world. They are held in a multicultural environment, as 85% of the participants are international students.
