Objectives and competences

Fundamental Critical Care Support (FCCS) designed by the Society of Critical Care Medicine is a standardized course comprising theoretical learning and practical skills intended for non-intensive care professionals. It focuses on the fundamental principles of action during the first 24 hours of care of the critically ill patient until transfer to an ICU.

- Enhance existing skills for addressing the needs of critical patients until they are transferred or seen by an expert in critical care.
- Have the knowledge of intensive care strategies to address sudden deteriorations in the condition of critical patients.

Recommended applicant profile

Professionals in the health sector who are associated with initial care for severely ill patients: doctors, resident doctors, nurses, pharmacists and physiotherapists.

Access requirements and conditions

The course is also open to students with no prior university education, who will acquire the same knowledge and skills and receive a specific qualification for their learner group. Information on the access requirements and other conditions can be obtained from the course directors.
