Objectives and competences

This course, which is part of the Food Studies and Gastronomy Programme, will address the science of nutrients as a cause or prevention of disease, as the basis of a healthy and sustainable diet and as a factor with diverse types of
impact on human health.

Students will work on an evidence-based dietary model designed to help people eat better to improve their health. Among the topics to be covered
will be obesity, a health problem that is becoming increasingly prevalent among young people and university students.

The course is intended for American university students within the framework of internationalization credits.

Objectives

In this course, we will focus on the science of nutrients as cause and prevention of diet-related diseases and their impact on human health. We will learn how to eat to support our health, based on science.
Objective 1.The science of nutrients and its impact on Human Health: the case of Obesity. Objective 2. Health supporting-eating based on science.
