Objectives and competences

This course covers all aspects of vaccination: from the development of a candidate vaccine capable of protecting against a disease to the integration of the vaccine into national vaccination programs. The first part of the course focuses on the immunological responses crucial to the development of an effective vaccine. The second part delves into the challenges of clinical trials, safety and the regulatory processes necessary for vaccine development. The final sessions will investigate international policy and implementation challenges in immunisation programmes.
Students will gain an overview of the steps leading to the development of vaccines.
