Objectives and competences

This introduction to environmental health provides an overview of the methodologies and tools used to assess the environmental exposure, epidemiology, and health impact of air pollution, noise, water pollution , metals, pesticides, persistent and non-persistent chemicals, radiation and green spaces in low-lying, middle- and high-income countries.

To be eligible, participants must have a demonstrated interest in global health or environmental health, as well as an advanced level of English, as this is the language of instruction for the course.

Objectives

- To acquire a general understanding of environmental health in a globalized world.
- To acquire a general vision of the methodologies and tools for assessing exposure to and the epidemiology and health impact of the environment, and the risks and benefits of factors such as air quality, water pollution, heavy metals, pesticides, persistent and non-persistent chemical substances, radiation and green areas, in low- and middle-income countries and in advanced economies.

Access requirements and conditions

The course is also open to students with no prior university education, who will acquire the same knowledge and skills and receive a specific qualification for their learner group. Information on the access requirements and other conditions can be obtained from the course directors.
