Objectives and competences

The Master's Degree in Clinical Sexology is based on solid scientific and multidisciplinary training in the different aspects of sexual dysfunctions that affect human beings and partner relationships from a bio-psychosocial perspective. Offered for over 16 years, it constitutes a benchmark master's degree programme in the training of professionals in sexology. Sexual problems can stem from a range of different sources. Biological, cultural and psychological factors may be the cause of sexual disorders. This master's degree allows students the opportunity to strengthen their understanding of the variables involved in preventing, diagnosing and treating sexual and partner disorders.

Objectives

- To learn how to define, update and explain the concept of sexuality and its biopsychosocial, human and cultural aspects.
- To study sexual anatomy and physiology, the male and female sexual responses, sexually transmitted diseases, sexual dysfunctions, psychosexual development, the process of building sexual identity and the determination of sexual roles.
- To understand the role of the sexology professional and learn to carry out professional functions.
- To carry out tasks related to the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases and health education, and to promote good clinical practice and the use of scientific evidence among sexologists.
