Objectives and competences

What makes a food business special, yet similar to business in other industries? Although, there are shared concepts and tools, a food business has unique context that you need to understand.
In this course you will focus on experientiality, authenticity and credence, vital ideas for you to create and manage a thriving food business.

Your learning will happen through case studies and meaningful stories of food products, brands and services, told by real people: entrepreneurs and chefs who are 'on fire' about bringing to the market a unique and superior proposition.

Objectives

-Identify, summarize and describe relevant business theories, in relation to food business situations.
-Analyse 'real world' case studies involving food business issues.
-Provide recommendations for action on the case studies.
-Prepare a business plan for a food venture.
-Use relevant concepts to explain and discuss typical management decisions regarding the business of food.

Recommended applicant profile

- Students from educational institutions in the United States with an international agreement with specialized entities.
- In exceptional circumstances, places may be filled by national and international students who have proof of a high level of English.

Access requirements and conditions

The course is also open to students with no prior university education, who will acquire the same knowledge and skills and receive a specific qualification for their learner group. Information on the access requirements and other conditions can be obtained from the course directors.
