Objectives and competences

The approach through vascular access has become essential in therapeutic management, becoming one of the most prevalent techniques in any healthcare process of specialized care. Its use contemplates the management of different devices and access routes with different modalities and functionalities. It is one of the procedures most used by nursing professionals, it is estimated that up to 90% of hospitalized patients have venous access.

Objectives and competences

Objectives

The objectives of the course are aimed at acquiring the knowledge, skills and aptitudes necessary for the comprehensive approach of people who require vascular access in an integral way. Achieving the clinical judgement and essential practical skills to develop nursing care in the different types of access and infusional therapy for optimal patient safety. Facilitate professional development in the field of vascular therapy with criteria of excellence, as well as promote research in the field of competence.

Graduates in nursing with an interest in broadening and deepening the knowledge and skills necessary to approach vascular access and infusion therapy, comprehensively, in the different situations that affect the state of a person's health:
- Intravenous therapy teams.
- In paediatric services.
- In critical services.
- In emergency services.
- In oncology services.
- In renal services.

Reaching a degree of specialization in order to develop the skills required of a nurse in infusion therapy units.

Observations:online. Practical simulation workshops (face-to-face): from January 16 to 21, 2024, in afternoon sessions from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Practicum: 30 hours per week from Monday to Friday for 4 weeks, in the morning or afternoon shift and in rotation in one or two centres with Vascular Access Units, between January and June 2024. 13 synchronous online webinars with vascular access experts in the afternoon, according to the calendar. Master's closing session (face-to-face): June 16, 2024 from 5.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m.
