Objectives and competences

In western society, an increasing number of patients are being observed with
craniomandibular dysfunction and disease and orofacial pain.
To date, this has been a field that has largely been handled by odonto-stomatology specialists focused on
prosthodontic care. However, current times require a broader view for the diagnosis and
treatment of these disorders and the creation of interdisciplinary units with the participation of a range of medical specialists,
dentists and those involved in other health areas. Such units help to improve the prognosis of these patients.
