This is one of the few master's degrees in Spain to specifically address the subject of youth, and the only course with a solid foundation of seven successful previous editions and a team of expert researchers, teachers and professionals. The objective is to provide training in the fields of research, intervention and public policies for young people. The course is both interuniversity (taught at the UdG, UB, UAB, UdL, URV and UPF) and interdisciplinary (covering sociology, anthropology, education and communication sciences, among other subjects).
It focuses on both professional skills and research and combines theoretical training with practical experience, field trips, case studies, a foreign study trip, and a range of other activities. Depending on the subjects selected in module IV, the placements carried out and the final project that is developed, the master's degree enables graduates to develop the following:
- Detailed understanding based on theoretical and practical aspects and on the application of work methodology, analysis, direction and management of youth policies, and the associated diagnosis, design, application and assessment of plans, programmes and projects.
- Direct actions with young people and youth work with the integration and understanding of specific knowledge, its scientific basis and the capacity to apply the acquired knowledge to problem-solving in new or relatively unknown environments.
- Research in youth studies, from epistemology, methodology and basic conceptions of youth to its main fields of research: history, education, economy, psychology, social participation, leisure, identity, consumption, health, communication and youth policies.
