Objectives and competences
Objectives
- To acquire professional training in the creation, analysis, management, assessment and communication of information in different means and formats for its final users.
- To understand the techniques for planning, implementation, management and assessment of information products and services, and the current channels and devices through which they are offered.
- To understand the national and international legal framework regulating information in the new digital world.
- To perform the specific competences of gathering, selecting, organizing, preserving and disseminating information and documentation through the application of technologies.
- To develop the communication skills required to link users and documents as well as the resource management competences to ensure the quality of information services.
- To acquire training as a professional with an open mind to change who is able to adapt to professional environments characterized by constant innovation of processes and tools and to prove the strategic value of information and documentation in all kinds of organizations.

Although students may have different academic backgrounds, certain attitudes and skills facilitate the successful completion of this bachelor's degree, many of which will be acquired and developed as the course progresses. They include the following:
- Capacity to adapt to the continuous changes taking place in the information environment and deriving from the rapid evolution of information and communication technologies.
- Capacity to plan and organise tasks and processes and to arrange and structure related concepts.
- Communication and social skills, such as empathy, assertive oral communication skills, capacity to participate and cooperate in collaborative projects and work teams.

Placements
Placements are supervised by tutors and subject to assessment.They are therefore included in the academic record. There is also an option to complete non-curricular placements of up to 500 hours, which can be extended to 900 hours. For both curricular and non-curricular placements, an educational cooperation agreement is signed between the UB and the company, institution or other organization at which the placement will be carried out.
