Objectives and competences
Objectives
The bachelor's degree in Tourism provides training for high-level roles, in the management and administration of tourism and hospitality businesses in the public and private sectors. Its curriculum design offers an international and global perspective on tourism. It fosters the development of the necessary competences for professional practice in the direction and management of tourism and hospitality businesses.
Main objectives:
- To learn about the policies and tools that ensure the future of tourism and hospitality.
- To learn to contribute to the balance between tourism and the environment.
- To acquire the skills to innovate and re-adapt to the emerging demands of consumers and society.
- To acquire professional training for resolving problems, taking opportunities and satisfying the needs of people and companies in the tourism sector.
- To acquire the expertise to address the challenges presented by the economic, social, cultural and environmental development of tourism, considering the influences of globalization, digital transformation and innovation.
- To develop the personal competences to lead teams and projects in a complex and highly dynamic environment.
- To understand the tools and techniques for the analysis and diagnosis of the strategic challenges of the tourism and hospitality sectors, and the formulation of strategies to ensure competitiveness and sustainability.
- To acquire the skills to transform the future of tourism, and the abilities to participate in the development of a sector in constant evolution in the areas of digitalization, innovation and sustainability.

- Technology: knowledge and command of ICTs for business management, and the capacity to adapt to changes in the business environment and personnel changes.
- Customer focus: Design of products and services adapted to different profiles, commercialization of strategies and personalized communications, and continuous monitoring of tourist behaviour.
- Innovation: Development of innovative business models and creative products that meet customer needs and address business challenges.
- Globalization: Global competition and international business development, managing people, markets and businesses in an international environment.
- Responsibility and sustainability: principles, values, and ethics. Development of the economic, social, environmental and cultural dimensions of tourism.

Admission for students with studies completed outside Spain.

Pre-enrolment
Students that have studied abroad and who wish to study at the University of Barcelona may be admitted to EHEA bachelor's degree courses. Procedures for gaining admission will depend on the qualifications held by each applicant.

Placements
Placements in a company or another type of organization are an integral part of university studies, providing first-hand experience of working methodologies in students' chosen professional fields.They offer invaluable practical experience for the transition into work after graduation.
Placements are supervised by tutors and subject to assessment.They are therefore included in the academic record. There is also an option to complete non-curricular placements of up to 500 hours, which can be extended to 900 hours. For both curricular and non-curricular placements, an educational cooperation agreement is signed between the UB and the company, institution or other organization at which the placement will be carried out.
