Introduction

Social and Cultural Anthropology examines the ways in which humans relate to one other and to our environment. The main methodological tool is ethnographic fieldwork, which is based on direct observation and immersion in the realities that we aim to study.
Anthropology is indispensable for understanding and resolving fundamental issues in contemporary society, such as socioeconomic, cultural, religious, class or gender conflicts, and also for finding new articulations in the variety of artistic, technological and ecological manifestations of different human communities. Due to its transversal nature, anthropology is a key tool for understanding and managing diversity in a complex, global and interconnected world. The degree comprises four academic years. The first year offers an introduction to anthropology and related basic subject areas, the second and third years delve deeper into specific areas of study, research techniques and applications of anthropology, and the fourth year provides a range of specializations obtained through the completion of optional subjects and a final degree project.
