Benvolguts,
Ens complau publicar una crida de comunicacions per al congrés de cloenda del projecte de recerca “Les Metamorfosis d’Ovidi en vernacle transformades per la impremta: text, imatge i nous lectors a finals del s. XV” (MedOvid, PID2023-153036NA-I00): el congrés Les Metamorfosis d’Ovidi a través del temps: paratextos, traduccions i iconografia se celebrarà a la Universitat de Barcelona els dies 2-3 de juliol (Facultat de Filologia i Comunicació).
El projecte MedOvid estudia els canvis textuals i paratextuals que hi ha en les traduccions medievals de les Metamorfosis quan passen del manuscrit a la impremta (especialment, entre 1580-1550). Ens centrem en els paratextos (pròlegs, epílegs, cartes de dedicatòria, notes als marges, gravats) per analitzar com s’utilitza o es presenta el text per a un públic més ampli, i com contribueix en els discursos filològics emergents sobre la traducció dels textos clàssics a l’inici de l’època moderna. Així mateix, ens fixem en el paper de les dones en relació a les traduccions impreses (com a destinatàries de les cartes de dedicatòria, mecenes, lectores).
Organitzem aquest congrés per reunir-hi investigadors que enriqueixin el debat sobre els temes següents:

El projecte MedOvid estudia els canvis textuals i paratextuals que hi ha en les traduccions medievals de les Metamorfosis quan passen del manuscrit a la impremta (especialment, entre 1580-1550). Ens centrem en els paratextos (pròlegs, epílegs, cartes de dedicatòria, notes als marges, gravats) per analitzar com s’utilitza o es presenta el text per a un públic més ampli, i com contribueix en els discursos filològics emergents sobre la traducció dels textos clàssics a l’inici de l’època moderna. Així mateix, ens fixem en el paper de les dones en relació a les traduccions impreses (com a destinatàries de les cartes de dedicatòria, mecenes, lectores).
Organitzem aquest congrés per reunir-hi investigadors que enriqueixin el debat sobre els temes següents:
- Les traduccions i els comentaris medievals i humanístics de les Metamorfosis d’Ovidi (preferentment, traduccions i comentaris del poema sencer).
- Traduccions posteriors de les Metamorfosis (s. XVII-XXI).
- La representació d’episodis de les Metamorfosis en l’art medieval i renaixentista.
- Del manuscrit a la impremta: paratextos, nous lectors, usos, censura, el paper de les dones en obres clàssiques i medievals a la impremta (aquest tema està pensat per a altres obres més enllà de les Metamorfosis d’Ovidi. S’anima els investigadors en literatura catalana medieval i renaixentista a presentar-hi comunicacions).
Lliuraments: Envieu una biografia breu (també serveix un vincle a la pàgina web institucional o un recurs similar), un títol provisional i un resum de no més de 300 paraules abans del dijous, 15 de gener de 2026 a Gemma Pellissa Prades (gemmapellisa@ub.edu) o a Pere Fàbregas (pfabregas@ub.edu). Les comunicacions tindran una durada de 20 minuts (seguits del debat). Les llengües del congrés seran el català, l’anglès, el francès, l’italià i el castellà. Seleccionarem les comunicacions segons la rellevància intrínseca i l’afinitat amb la matèria d’estudi del projecte. Comunicarem les decisions del comitè científic abans del dilluns, 2 de març de 2026.

We are delighted to open a call for papers for the closing conference of the research project “The Transformation of Ovid’s Metamorphoses in Modern Printing: text, image and new readership” (MedOvid, PID2023-153036NA-I00) entitled Ovid’s Metamorphoses through Time: Paratexts, Translations and Iconography to be held in Barcelona on the 2nd and 3rd of July 2026 (Facultat de Filologia i Comunicació, Universitat de Barcelona).
The MedOvid project studies textual and paratextual changes of the medieval vernacular translations of the Latin poem from their manuscript form to their circulation as printed books (particularly, from 1480s to 1550). We focus largely on paratextual materials (prologues, epilogues, letters of dedication, marginalia, engravings) as a means to explore how the text is used or presented in a new light for a wider audience, and how this contributes to the emergent philological discourses on the translation of classical texts in the early modern period. We also pay attention to the role of women in these printed translations (as dedicatees, sponsors, readers).

- Medieval and humanistic commentaries and translations of Ovid’s Metamorphoses (preferably translations and commentaries of the whole poem).
- Later translations of Ovid’s Metamorphoses (17th-21st centuries).
- Representation of episodes from the Metamorphoses in medieval and Renaissance visual arts.
- From manuscript to print: paratextual materials, new readership, uses, censorship, the role of women in Ancient and Medieval works in printing. (This topic is open to the study of works other than the Metamorphoses. We encourage researchers on medieval and Renaissance Catalan literature to present papers on this research topic).
Submissions: Please send a short biography (a link to an institutional page or similar resource is also acceptable), a provisional title and an abstract of no more than 300 words by Thursday, 15th of January 2026 either to Gemma Pellissa Prades (gemmapellisa@ub.edu) or Pere Fàbregas (pfabregas@ub.edu). Papers should be 20 minutes long (followed by a discussion). The languages of the conference will be Catalan, English, French, Italian, and Spanish. Papers will be selected according to their intrinsic relevance and affinity with the project’s subject matter. Authors will be notified by Monday, 2nd of March.
