Multiple stressors impacting rivers: biodiversity and ecosystem function responses
Global change promotes the occurrence of stressors affecting river ecosystems, and impacting on their biodiversity and functions, with implications on the services they provide to humans. RIVSTRESS will define the effect of some of the stressors most commonly occurring in Mediterranean watercourses (i.e., hydric stress, increased in water temperature, nutrient excess, presence of pesticides). The project aims to produce a complete understanding of how much these different stressors sequences co-occurring in river ecosystems might affect community structure, their resistance and their ability to recover from these stressors. In order to provide recommendations, aimed to anticipate the extent of such effects.
