The project addresses the need for professionalizing peer support in mental health, recognizing its benefits in fostering recovery. Despite its success in English-speaking countries, Europe lacks a standardized approach. The project aims to integrate peer support structurally into mental health care, enhance the professional profile and training of peer support workers, and prepare teams for their integration. Key activities include developing a competence framework, standardized training profile, materials for mental health professionals, a methodological framework for peer support workers, and a MOOC. Collaborative production involving peer support workers, professionals, academics, and researchers ensures relevance and effectiveness. Expected outcomes include improved employability, recognized skills, and enhanced mental health systems.
The project is co-funded by the European Commission and the Erasmus+ program: PEER and TEAM SUPPORT in Mental Health: recovery through user experience 2021-1-BE01-KA220-VET-000034852
