GREENCHEMSUN

Transició energètica i ecològica
Micro/Nanorreactores foto-termo-catalíticos escalables para la síntesis de
compuestos químicos verdes con luz solar a través de biomasa lignocelulósica
The GREENCHEMSUN project targets ecological challenges through a photo-thermo-catalytic reactor producing γ-valerolactone (GVL) from renewable biomass and sunlight. GVL, a safe, biodegradable compound, has applications in biofuels, energy storage, and green solvents. The reactor employs innovative 3D photo-thermo-catalytic metamaterials for efficient catalysis, paired with a solar concentrator and tracking systems for optimal sunlight utilization. The initiative seeks to economically produce scalable catalysts, implement a sustainable synthesis process, and leverage sunlight for industrial scalability. Beyond reducing fossil fuel dependence, the project aims to benefit rural economies and environmental sustainability, with interest from forest associations and biorefineries indicating potential positive impacts.
GREENCHEMSUN ((TED2021-129898B-C22) is funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities through the Spanish State Research Agency and the European Union Next Generation EU funds of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
