Low-resolution global climate modeling: dynamics and forecasting
  • IP: Javier Garcia-Serrano
Climate variability and change pose significant challenges to society worldwide. As a result, there is a growing demand to develop improved climate information products and outlooks to help decision-making and sustainable development. This is particularly critical in the Euro-Mediterranean region, which is sensible to natural hazards (e.g. droughts, floods) and vulnerable to climate stress (i.e. global warming). DYNCAST aims to advance understanding of the dynamics involved in the near-term climate change of relevant atmospheric and oceanic variability modes, and to improve forecasting capabilities at seasonal-to-decadal timescales by using a low-resolution climate model that properly simulates large-scale processes.
DYNCAST is funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities under grant CNS2022-135312.
