Services

The purpose of the Service is to offer athletes, certain patients or the general public the performance of programs of intermittent exposure to hypobaric hypoxia, hypoxia tolerance tests and other procedures, such as technical tests of instruments or equipment, based on exposure to low environmental pressure.

  • Equipment
The Service has a modern and equipped hypobaric chamber, under computerized control and with capacity for 10 people. Other medical and scientific equipment allows to guarantee the maximum safety of the procedures and individually monitor the physiological responses induced by exposure to hypoxia. Under normal conditions, and for safety and efficiency reasons, the limit for the maximum simulated altitude is set at 5,500 meters above sea level.
  • Refrigeration
It is possible to cool the interior of the chamber to simulate the cold, low-pressure environmental conditions that occur at high altitude.

Hypoxia tolerance test

It allows to assess the body's sensitivity to hypoxia and the risk of suffering from Acute Mountain Sickness.
Aimed at anyone who has to travel or reside temporarily in high altitude locations (above 2000-2500 m).

Pre-acclimatization program

It allows to reduce the time of acclimatization to the high altitude, reducing the costs of the expedition and speeding up the possibility of attacking the peaks.
Aimed at members of mountaineering expeditions at high altitude. (Requires several sessions)

Intermittent hypoxia exposure program

It causes an adaptive response from the body that causes an improvement in aerobic work capacity.
Aimed at athletes, patients or the general public who need to improve their aerobic capacity or increase the capacity to transport oxygen through the blood. (Requires several sessions)

Technical tests

They allow checking the operation of any device or equipment in conditions of low environmental pressure. Cooling can also be applied simultaneously.
Directed Industrial processes, manufacturers of equipment or accessories for high mountains or that have to work at altitude.

Functional assessment

It allows to accurately establish the individual's physical work capacity.
Aimed at all those who wish to evaluate their physical capacity before and after several sessions of exposure to hypoxia.

Additional complementary analyses

They allow monitoring and controlling the evolution of different physiological parameters of interest.
Aimed at all those who wish to quantify the physiological variations induced by sessions of intermittent exposure to hypoxia.
