Our aim is to promote, develop and disseminate research into the long-term economic development of our societies.

The Jordi Nadal Centre for Economic History Studies fosters collaboration with public and private organisations, provides scientific advice within its area of expertise, publishes academic papers and promotes initiatives to communicate and disseminate its activities. It also coordinates various national and international research projects.

The Jordi Nadal Centre for Economic History publishes the journal Revista de Historia Industrial – Industrial History Review (RHI-IHR).

The Centre d'Estudis Jordi Nadal is a University observatory that aims to promote, project and disseminate research and knowledge transfer in its specialized field, which is the economic development of our societies from a long-term perspective.

The Centre d'Estudis Jordi Nadal promotes collaboration with public and private entities, promotes scientific advice in its field of competence, publishes scientific publications and promotes communication and dissemination actions of the activities carried out. In addition, it brings together various research projects, both international and national.
The Centre d'Estudis Jordi Nadal d'Història Econòmica publishes the Revista de Historia Industrial – Industrial History Review (RHI-IHR).

Organization

The director of the Jordi Nadal Centre for Economic History Studies is Jordi Catalan. The secretary is Marc Prat. The organization of the Centre is completed by a permanent group formed by representatives of the different categories of members.

The Centre is made up of permanent staff from the University, non-permanent PhD researchers from the UB, doctors from other institutions or public and private entities, PTGAS from the UB, and staff in training from the UB.

Research

For the different activities and the execution of various research projects, the researchers of the group maintain relationships with others from different Spanish and European universities and, likewise, enter into collaboration agreements with different institutions, both public and private, from the university and business sectors. For the financing of these projects and activities, sponsorship has been obtained from various collaboration agreements signed with entities such as the Jaume Bofill Foundation, Caixa de Catalunya, the Spanish Railways Foundation, or from resources obtained through public calls from the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Generalitat de Catalunya.

Industrial History Review

Revista de Historia Industrial – Industrial History Review (RHI-IHR) publishes research in economic history that investigates processes of industrialization, as well as the social, economic, institutional, environmental, and demographic transformations associated with them. This includes, among others, the evolution of incomes and living standards, education and human capital, political economy, inequality, trade, and money and banking. The journal welcomes full-length articles on all world regions, contributing to existing debates and drawing attention to new lines of research. The RHI-IHR promotes methodological diversity by encouraging submissions ranging from historical macroeconomic studies to business history, using qualitative as well as statistical and cliometric analyses. The Revista de Historia Industrial – Industrial History Review publishes manuscripts in English and Spanish in three regular issues per year as well as special issues. The RHI-IHR also contributes to the field of economic history by providing a book-review section. The RHI-IHR is indexed in JCR-SSCI, CiteScore-Scopus and SJR-Scimago, among others.

The RHI-IHR addresses specialists in the field of economic history as well as scholars interested in economics and history more broadly, including graduate students and junior researchers. The journal also aims to spread information aimed at the wider public via its blog "The Great Spurt" and social media.
