VI Conference "Sociolinguistic research in the field of the Catalan language"

On 22 and 23 January, the VI Conference "Sociolinguistic research in the field of the Catalan language" will be held, co-organised by the Sociolinguistics Unit of the Philological Section and the Department of Language Policy of the Generalitat de Catalunya. The events will take place at the headquarters of the Institute of Catalan Studies.

These Conferences, already consolidated as a space for meeting, debate and scientific updating in the field of Catalan sociolinguistics, offer a framework for shared reflection on the state of the discipline and the main current challenges of research in Catalan sociolinguistics.

The programme includes empirical and theoretical works that analyse the relations between language and society in Catalan-speaking territories, from diverse and interdisciplinary approaches, and promotes the exchange of knowledge on the main lines of research and emerging challenges of contemporary sociolinguistics.

The Conference is aimed at researchers, teaching staff, undergraduate and postgraduate students, and professionals interested in the sociolinguistic study of the Catalan language.
