La Dra. Carme Llasat, presidenta de l’Observatori de la Inundabilitat de Catalunya
La catedràtica del Departament de Física Aplicada de la Universitat de Barcelona i membre de l’IdRA, Carme Llasat, ha sigut nomenada presidenta de l’Observatori de la Inundabilitat, acabat de constituir pel Govern de Catalunya, l’objectiu del qual és millorar el coneixement tècnic, la coordinació institucional i la presa de decisions davant un fenomen que afecta cada vegada més el territori català a conseqüència de l’emergència climàtica.

IdRA, present at the RemTech Europe 2025 conference
UB professor and IdRA member Jofre Herrero is collaborating in the organization of RemTech Europe, the international conference on land and water remediation markets and technologies (from 15 to 19 September). He and Diana Puigserver, a professor and member of the institute, will each give a presentation, too.
The aim of the Remtech is to share knowledge and to encourage the Exchange of ideas in the development of remediation processes and the application of new and sustainable technologies.

Associate Professor and geologist Josep Maria Carmona passed away
Dr. Josep Maria Carmona Pérez began his career as a geologist and hydrogeologist in 1980 and, since 1992, he has been an Associate Professor at the Facultat de Ciències de la Terra of the University of Barcelona, teaching subjects related to hydrogeology. He was also an active member of IdRA since its inception.

The field trip to the Muga organized by the IdRA confirms the attraction of international talent for CHARM research activities
The Water Research Institute (IdRA) has coordinated a field trip to the Muga basin in which researchers from the ‘Global challenges for sustainability’ master’s degree at the University of Montpelier (France), and the Michigan State University (USA), have participated, highlighting the international interest in the scientific initiatives of CHARM-EU, the interuniversity alliance led by the University of Barcelona (UB).

Inauguració de ‘Paisatges invisibles’, exposició personal de Domènec Corbella
Aquest dissabte, 7 de juny de 2025, a les 12 hores, s’inaugura Paisatges invisibles, una exposició personal de Domènec Corbella, professor de Belles Arts de la Universitat de Barcelona i membre de l’Institut de Recerca de l’Aigua (IdRA). L’acte tindrà lloc a la Sala Lucilla Atilia de la Fundació Castell del Remei (Penelles, Lleida), a on es podrà visitar la mostra de pintures fins al 31 de juliol.

The Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV) has awarded an Honorary Doctorate to María Jesús Montoro, a leading figure in environmental law, former director and founding member of IdRA. Dr. Anicet R. Starting signal for the VIII Young Researchers’ Conference of IdRA
The scientific event will take place April 29 in the Faculty of Physics and Chemistry of the UB, and will feature the participation of Dr. Jorge Olcina, professor of Anàlisi i Geografia Regional at the University of Alacant, and the multidisciplinary artist Juana Dolores Romero. Lecture on the ClimEx-PE project, groundwater and climate change
On February 19, José F. García, director of the Water Research Institute (IdRA), led a stimulating class on the ClimEx-PE project focused on the capacity of groundwater to mitigate the effects of climate change. The lecture was aimed at university students of the subject of Chemistry of Aquatic Systems of the first year of the Degree of Environmental Sciences.

The rains have put an end to the drought in Spain, but sooner rather than later it will return
The drought in its different facets has ended. But beware: he will come back. Els investigadors del projecte ClimEx-PE van visitar la conca de la Muga per estudiar les característiques geològiques, hidrogeològiques, meteorològiques i geogràfiques. A la sortida van participar membres de l'IdRA i de la Universitat de Barcelona, incloent Josep María Carmona i Diana Puigserver, organitzadors de l'activitat, així com coordinadors del projecte ClimEx-PE.

Per tal d’afavorir l’excel·lència i la competitivitat entre les presentacions dels projectes d’investigació i pòsters científics que formaran part del programa de l’edició d’enguany, s’ha ampliat el termini d’inscripcions. Les investigadores i investigadors que vulguin participar compten fins aquest diumenge, 23 de març, com a data límit per inscriure-s'hi des d’aquest enllaç.

Pere Llopart, representant de la UB al concurs 'Tesis en 3 minutos'
Pere Llopart, membre de l'IdRA i doctorand del programa de doctorat en Enginyeria i Ciències Aplicades, representa a la Universitat de Barcelona al concurs 'Tesis en 3 minuts' on el desafiament radica a condensar en un màxim de tres minuts la seva investigació en anglès. La recerca de Llopart està enfocada en la transformació de residus de les vinyes, concretament dels ferments, per obtenir biocarbó.

El Simposi "Active nano/microsystems in the Spanish context" tindrà lloc a la Universitat de Barcelona del 23 al 25 d'octubre de 2024. Organitzat per investigadors de la UB (està organitzat per Ignacio Pagonabarraga, Julio Bastos, Josep Puigmartí, Maria Guix i Jordi Díaz.), reuneix experts en matèria activa i ofereix una oportunitat gratuïta per a estudiants i investigadors per fer networking i intercanviar idees.
