Production of thermally-, mechanically- and chemically-resistant microcapsules from plastic waste to contain PCM and their use as sustainable alternative cements
The SAC-TES project applies science and technology to pursue the 2030 Agenda Sustainable Development Goals. With support from both the business and public sectors, we are developing resistant, recycled microcapsule phase change materials (MPCM) to reduce marine pollution. We have created MPCM from recycled waste and sustainable alternative cement (SAC) from industrial waste. The final stage combines MPCM-SAC to create SAC-TES materials to improve comfort in buildings. By assessing properties and analysing their life cycle, we evaluate the extent to which they help adapt to climate change and contribute to decarbonization and the transition to a circular economy. SAC-TES is funded by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (CNS2022-135800).
