Quality
The Faculty of Chemistry's Quality-specific web portal brings together all content related to quality management in the Faculty and its internal quality assurance system.
In March 2021, the Faculty of Chemistry obtained certification from the Agency for Quality Assessment of the Catalan University System (AQU Catalunya) for the QA System implemented at the centre. Subsequently, since 26 May 2021, the Faculty of Chemistry has held institutional accreditation from AQU Catalunya, which was subsequently ratified by the Verification and Accreditation of Study Programmes Commission of the Council of Universities on 22 June 2021.

The Faculty of Chemistry's internal quality assurance system (IQAS) was designed in accordance with the guidelines of the AUDIT programme (2007), based on the quality standards of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education approved in Bergen (2005). This model is common to all UB centres and is adapted to each faculty.
In our Faculty, the IQAS was integrated with the existing management tools developed by the Quality Committee established in 1996, which is also responsible for the quality management system of the teaching laboratories. The design was favourably evaluated by AQU Catalunya in 2009 and its implementation certified in 2021. Currently, SAIQU facilitates the management of degree programmes within the framework of verification, monitoring, modification and accreditation.
The VSMA framework (verification, monitoring, modification and accreditation of qualifications) establishes four interrelated processes for the evaluation, management and continuous improvement of qualifications (PEQ 020). In very brief terms, the VSMA framework begins with verification, which is the assessment carried out before a qualification is put into operation. Once verified, those responsible for the qualification monitor it periodically, which involves gathering evidence of everything that is being done and reflecting on the functioning of the qualification and the centre. Thanks to this monitoring, modifications will be introduced, if necessary, which may be substantial or not. Non-substantial changes are minor adjustments that improve the qualification, whereas substantial modifications affect the qualification's administrative definition or its essential academic characteristics, which could mean that the qualification's verification process would have to be started again. Finally, accreditation is carried out, accompanied by a visit from an external panel. It is designed to ensure the quality of the open training programmes and to facilitate internal improvement processes.
The Faculty of Chemistry's master plan, designed by the Dean's office, summarises the Faculty's main strategic lines of action and complements its quality policy and objectives, as well as the commitments set out therein.
Data and indicators are considered an essential tool for monitoring the status of the Faculty's relevant aspects. Likewise, their values serve as the basis for developing improvement actions and enable their monitoring. Some of these indicators originate from external to the Faculty sources that are publicly available to all stakeholders.
We have obtained institutional accreditation, awarded by the AQU on 25 May 2021. This accreditation has subsequently been ratified by the Verification and Accreditation of Study Programmes Commission of the Council of Universities and published in the Register of Universities, Centres and Degrees.
This accreditation, in accordance with Royal Decree 640/2021, automatically accredits for six years the official university bachelor's and master's degrees taught at the Faculty.
