The University's Faculty of Information and Audiovisual Media is a centre with a tradition that dates back to 1915, when the Mancomunitat of Catalonia founded the Escola Superior de Bibliotecàries, the predecessor of our centre. With this long history behind it, our centre has managed to combine tradition with modernity and has adapted to the requirements of the professional and social world at each historical moment.

Currently, at the Faculty of Information and Audiovisual Media we offer bachelor's studies in the areas of information and documentation management, and audiovisual communication. This training offer is complemented by several official master's degreesm a doctoral programme and multiple postgraduate and life-long learning courses and programmes.

The Faculty is firmly commited to having a teaching offer of recognized quality, with a strong involvement with the professional world. Our academic activity, both teaching and research, is carried out in moderna and well-equipped facilities, and in a location very well connected by public transport.

Organitzation and strucutre

The Faculty of Information and Audiovisual Media is a centre of the Univeristy in which we carry out teaching, study, research and university activities in the field of information and documentation and audiovisual communication.

The Faculty was created in August 1999 from the transformation of the University School of Library and Documentation (according to Decree 226/1999 of the Generalitat of Catalonia, of July 27, DOGC  of August 9).

​The governing bodies of the Faculty are the Faculty Board, the Dean's team, the study councils and other academic bodies. The administrative organization is led by the Central Administration with the units that depen on it.

Administration

The centre administration is the management unit of the Administrative and Management Units aimed at students, academic staff and also the technical, management and administration services staff that are assigned to the centre administration. 

The centre administrator, currently M. Roser Castellano Casart, is responsible for the management of the administration services at the centre, the Sants Campus and has been assigned by Management. The holder supports the initiatives of the governing bodies of the Faculty of Information and Audiovisual Media.

Faculty activity

In addition to the classes, tutorials and seminars that are part of the day-to-day teaching of degrees and specialization courses, the Faculty often hosts professional, dissemination or research, events which are ususally open to everyone. We invite you to participate.

Services

At the Faculty of Information and Audiovisual Media, we make available to the university community various services and equipment to support learning, teaching and research. These services constitute the necessary support to develop university activity in optimal conditions.

Among other facilities, the Faculty has a perfectly equipped set and sound room, as well as several computer rooms and the assembly hall, which has been recently renovated. The library offers the information and documentation support needed for the teaching and research programmes of the courses taught there.

Also worth highlighting the SIOF, a free job offer service for graduates of our centre that you will find under the internships and employment section. The most common procedures will be dealt with via the student and teaching secretariat.
