Dean's welcome
I welcome you to this faculty dedicated to teaching and research in the field of library science, archival science, information, documentation and audiovisual communication.
This is a centennial centre which has its origin in the Escola Superior de Bibliotecàries founded in 1915 by the Mancomunitat de Catalunya. Since then we have been training professionals for libraries, documentation centres and archives in our country and, later, also experts in audiovisual communication. From this faculty we have experienced the changes in our world up close and how this evolution has affected and continues to affect the way in which people read, search for information, get informed, acquire culture and generate content.

We have been pioneers in the implementation of new online information search systems long before the internet existed, and how we continue to research and train in the use of social networks, the interconnection of databases or the creaiton of audiovisuals, among others.
We are open to the world, open to change and very connected to society, especially with the professional sectors that must receive our graduates and that must apply everything that we research and teach at the Faculty.
