Frequently asked questions
If you are coming for a study placement through a mobility programme, your home university must first send us your nomination for a place (information for home universities).
Once your nomination has been received, you will get an email with the information on the procedures you must complete (fill out the online form, and send the required documents by email). You must do this before the deadlines
- 15 June for first-semester and full-year stays.
- 15 November for second-semester stays.
Yes, you must have at least B1 level in Catalan and/or Spanish.
Information about the language of instruction at the university: linguistic transparency.
Yes, at the beginning of the semester, a welcome session is held, where you will be informed about the procedures required during your stay, as well as about the enrolment process at the Faculty. You will receive information about this session in advance, once you have been accepted.
Yes, you must enrol in the subjects listed in your learning agreement.
First, you must go to the ORI (International Relations Office) to formalize your arrival. We will review the documents you need and provide you with the enrolment form. Your learning agreement must have been previously approved by both universities. Once everything is in order, you can proceed with your enrolment at the Secretary's Office for Students and Teaching Staff.
Remember that for enrolment, it is essential that you have your ID or passport, European Health Insurance Card (or equivalent health and accident insurance), and repatriation insurance, valid for the entire duration of your stay.
On the enrolment form, you must indicate the code, name of the subject, and the group in which you want to register. It is important to check the group, since the professor specifies the teaching and assessment method, as well as the timetable and classroom.
Yes, but you need authorization from the other faculty. The ORI will provide you with the authorization form for subjects at other faculties, which you must process with the ORI of the faculty where you want to take those subjects.
Once you have the authorization, you can add the subjects to your enrolment form and formalize it at the Secretary's Office for Students and Teaching Staf.
Check the list of the different faculties at the University of Barcelona.
You can take a minimum of 18 credits and a maximum of 24 credits per semester. You may choose up to 49% of your credits at other faculties, with prior authorization.
In the case of master’s programmes, the maximum is 25 credits per year.
Yes, the Virtual Campus is activated a few hours after you enrol in your subjects. Your enrolment form includes the identifier to access the Campus.
All information is published on the Faculty’s website. Each programme has timetables and classrooms for each subject, as well as the language of instruction.
Check the information on bachelor's degree courses and university master's degrees at the Faculty of Geography and History.
Yes. You have about 2–3 weeks from your arrival to make changes to your learning agreement and enrolment. Your revised learning agreement must again be signed by all the parties involved.
Once you have formalized your revised learning agreement, you must first go to the ORI to receive a new enrolment form with the modified subjects, and then go to the Secretary's Office for Students and Teaching Staff to update your official enrolment.
When you complete your studies, about one month later, the Faculty Secretariat will send your transcript of records by email. This certificate is digitally signed and therefore officially valid.
You will also be able to view your academic record in the SocUB application.
Remember to consult the page Studying temporarily at the UB.
You must be enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s programme, and in the case of bachelor’s degrees, you must have completed at least 60 credits. You must also meet the language requirements of the host university, which you can check in the list of destinations. These requirements must be met at the time of applying for the placement (when the call is published).
Around October, you can attend the Mobility Fair organized by the UB.
When the mobility call opens (October), an information session is held at the Faculty.
Most universities require a certain language level, depending on the country or the language in which the programme is taught.
The language accreditation procedure can be done by presenting an official language certificate (CIC or ACLES lists). If you do not have a certificate, you must take the placement tests organized by the EIM (the UB’s language school) for students wishing to participate in international mobility programmes. Check the registration period and test dates on the EIM website.
Once the resolution with the definitive allocations is published, we schedule an information meeting (around April) to explain the procedures you must complete from the moment your mobility place is assigned.
To go abroad, you must be accepted by the host university. The allocation by UB means you meet the requirements to be considered for the place you applied for, but the host university must accept you, and you must provide and complete all the required procedures by the established deadlines.
The ORI informs the host university that you have been selected (nominated) for a stay at their institution, and once they receive your nomination, they will email you about the application process and the documents you must submit. It is important to follow up with the host university to ensure everything is in order.
First, you must prepare the Academic Equivalence Document (DEA), which is an internal UB document. It must include the courses at the host university and the corresponding courses from your curriculum that will be recognized. The DEA must be signed by you, your degree coordinator, and the mobility coordinator.
Once you have the signed DEA, you must prepare the Learning Agreement (LA) in the SOP platform. This document must include the same courses as those in the signed DEA.
The subjects must have equivalent or similar academic content and workload as the courses in your curriculum.
Don’t worry. In the Erasmus programme, there are subjects called “Erasmus Elective” and in the Global UB Mobility programme, “International Subject”. These are subjects that can be recognized as elective credits in your curriculum when there is no direct correspondence with the UB’s courses.
You must register for your mobility subjects at the Secretary's Office for Students and Teaching Staff before starting your stay.
To formalize enrolment in your exchange subjects, you must provide the signed DEA.
Students in the Global UB programme who start their stay in August must register in July, before leaving.
No. Before leaving you must have the Learning Agreement signed in the SOP platform, as well as the grant agreement (in the case of Erasmus) or mobility agreement (for the Global UB programme).
This is the contract between you and UB. You must download it from SOP, complete it, and sign it digitally. Then you must upload it to SOP once signed.
You cannot leave for your exchange without this completed document.
You must download it from SOP and, once signed and stamped, send a scanned copy to ORI. The host university must also sign and stamp it.
Don’t worry, you can make changes. You have five weeks from the arrival certificate to change your Learning Agreement in SOP. Remember that to make changes, you must first prepare a new DEA. Your new DEA must again be signed by you, the degree coordinator, and the mobility coordinator. The revised LA (through SOP) must be signed by you, the mobility coordinator, and finally the host university.
First, you must download Placement Certificate from SOP, which certifies the period you have been at the host university. It must be signed and stamped by the host university. Once you have it, you must send it to the OMPI.
The host university sends us your transcript of records. If not, you must send it yourself. The Secretary's Office for Students and Teaching Staff manages your academic record and therefore the recognition of the courses in your transcript. This recognition is automatic, based on the equivalence table approved by the UB.
Once the stay is fully completed, you must fill in the survey. You will receive a link by email to complete the Erasmus mobility survey.
There are two payments:
- First payment: when the OMPI receives your arrival certificate from the host university.
- Second payment: when the OMPI receives your transcript of records, which you must upload to SOP, and after you complete the Erasmus mobility survey.
The Erasmus programme has its own grant. In addition, there are other grants available for mobility. You can check the types of grants here: funding options for the Erasmus programme.
For Global UB programmes, you can check the types of grants here: funding options for Global UB.
