Curricular external placements

Regulations
Institutional or Company Placement is an optional subject with a credit load of 6 credits (bachelor's degree) or between 5 and 10 credits (university master's degree) that is part of the curriculum of the different courses. It is specified as having a duration of 210 face-to-face hours, in the case of bachelor's degrees, and between 150 and 400 face-to-face hours, in the case of university master's degrees. Placements are scheduled twice a year: from October to December and from February to May.
To be able to electronically sign the training project for the placements, you must have the UB card (TUI or digital card).

It is the student's responsibility to know the regulations governing placements: the Regulations on external academic placements for students at the University of Barcelona and the Protocol for curricular and non-curricular external placements for bachelor's degrees and university master's degrees at the Faculty.
As of 1 January 2024, placements are subject to contributions to the Social Security system.
To resolve any doubts or queries regarding administrative management, you can contact the Secretary's Office for Students and Teaching Staff (Quim Linares | practiques.gih@ub.edu | +34 934 037 727).
Management of curricular placements for bachelor's degrees
  • Publication of places offered: 23 May
  • Call registration deadline: from 23 May to 5 June
  • First allocation of places: from 6 to 10 June
  • Publication of the allocation of places on the Faculty website: 11 June
  • Days to communicate student acceptances or withdrawals: from 11 to 14 June
  • Offer publication of vacant places (students without an assigned place): from 18 to 21 June
  • Second allocation of places: starting 27 June
  • Days to communicate student acceptances or withdrawals: from 27 to 28 June

It is important to understand the commitment that accepting or renouncing the assigned place represents and that this option may affect the programming and organization of activities carried out by external entities and students who have been left without a place.

Under no circumstances can you begin the placements without having the placement agreement signed by all parties.
To enrol in the subject Institutional or Company Placement you must meet the requirements for each course. You can consult the information for each degree:

Once the available places have been published, students must submit a request via GIPE, indicating up to five preferences in order of preference.

  • Period: 23 May to 5 June 2024

Places assigned are published in mid-June.

Once the list of assigned placements has been published, you must confirm through GIPE by 14 June 2024.

If you also need to enrol in the subject Final Project (TFG) (information requested by the Secretary's Office for Students and Teaching Staff via email), you must complete the specific self-enrolment for all the subjects in the 2024–2025 academic year, including Institutional or Company Placement, during the first days of September 2024 (the exact date will be communicated to students at the end of July).

If you do not need to enrol in the TFG, complete the self-enrolment for the 2024–2025 subjects, excluding Institutional or Company Placement, on the date indicated according to the self-enrolment lists (these will be published on the Faculty website at the end of July 2024). Enrolment for Institutional or Company Placement will be completed later, at the Secretary's Office for Students and Teaching Staff, during the second half of September 2024 (exact dates will be announced in September 2024)

If an issue at the company or institution prevents you from formalizing the internship agreement for which you are enrolled, you have the option of completing your internship at another company or institution. If no vacancies are available, you may enrol in an optional subject with available places.

At the end of the placement, the supervisor at the company or institution will assess their level of satisfaction with the internship carried out, using a document prepared by the coordinator of the external internships. This report, along with the placement report you must submit, will form the basis for the assessment of the subject.
