The Faculty

The Faculty of Geography and History hosts four departments and several consolidated research groups. 
It was created in the year 1974 and currently around five thousand people coexist there, including students, teaching staff, and administrative and service personnel. Since the 2006-2007 academic year, it has been located in the centre of Barcelona, in a location that favours an open and diverse environment. It has classrooms, laboratories, and equipment adapted to the teaching and research needs of the university community.

The Faculty of Geography and History is a reference centre in teaching and research in Anthropology, Archaeology, Geography, History, and Art History, in the Raval neighbourhood — in the heart of Barcelona — in a space that combines academic tradition and urban vitality. This website offers you practical information about the studies, research, and activities carried out there. Governing bodies 

The governance of the Faculty falls to the Dean’s Office, made up of the dean, up to four vice-deans, the secretary, and the administrator of the centre. This team coordinates the academic and organizational activities of the centre, in collaboration with various committees and councils. Internal organization and functioning 

The Center Administration coordinates the support units for students, teaching staff, and technical, management, and administrative and service staff. It is responsible for the management of the facilities and acts as a delegated representation of the General Management. The current administrator is Mr. Félix Gómez Fernández. The office is on the first floor of the building.

Regulations 
The Faculty is governed by the Statute of the University of Barcelona  and by its own internal regulations. These documents establish the governance structure and the operational criteria of the centre.

Faculty activities 

The Faculty promotes activities that complement academic training and encourage cultural and scientific participation. Events related to research are organized, as well as musical, theatrical, photographic, literary, and sports activities, often led by student associations.

Services 

The Faculty of Geography and History offers various support services for study, teaching, and research, with the aim of ensuring a complete and high-quality university experience.  Among the highlighted resources are the CRAI Library, with a specialized bibliographic collection; the GIS computer lab, equipped for Geography students and staff; and complementary services such as the Employment Service, Language Services, or the space reservation service. 

These services contribute to the proper functioning of academic life and facilitate the personal and professional development of the university community.
