Erasmus+ Estudis

The Erasmus+ programme provides students from the University of Barcelona with academic stays of one semester or one academic year in one of the thirty-three countries participating in the program (twenty-eight member countries of the European Union plus Norway, Liechtenstein, Iceland, Turkey and Macedonia). The number of mobility places offered depends on the agreements between the UB faculties and schools and these countries. Mobility involves the incorporation of the credits passed into the student's academic record and into the European Diploma Supplement.

Erasmus+ programme beneficiaries are exempt from paying tuition fees at the destination university, although the foreign university may eventually require the payment of small fees corresponding to insurance, student unions, use of various materials, etc., always under the same conditions as local students. The award of a mobility place, however, does not exempt you from paying UB tuition fees.

During the exchange, the beneficiary must be responsible for all expenses arising from it. The program offers financial aid that varies depending on the standard of living in the destination country. These grants may be compatible with other mobility grants (consult the terms and conditions of each grant).
The fact that the University of Barcelona awards an Erasmus+ mobility place does not imply immediate acceptance by the foreign university. Once the UB has awarded a mobility place to the student, this student must initiate the procedures to present their candidacy to the destination university, which individually specifies the steps that must be followed to be officially admitted.

To find out which universities there are agreements with and the places available for students of the Faculty of Geography and History, as well as to find out the requirements they require, consult the mobility place search tool.

Students with special needs and Erasmus+ mobility
The UB offers a series of services and advice to students with special needs. Further information.

The general requirements are set out in the call for applications; however, here we show you the main ones:
  • Be enrolled in any Bachelor's or master's degree program at the UB.
  • Bachelor's degree students must have completed 60 credits at the time of application. Master's students must be enrolled in a minimum of 30 credits at the time of application, which must have been approved before starting the stay.
  • During your stay you must take between 24 and 30 ECTS credits per semester (48-60 credits for the entire year). Students from the Faculty of Geography and History cannot enrol in either Bachelor's or master's degree final project or placements as part of their mobility (however, placements can be completed through Erasmus+ placements).
  • You must prove a sufficient level of linguistic competence to be able to follow the activities of the destination university (the level and language required are determined by the agreement). Therefore, a language certificate or accreditation is an essential requirement for making the application.
  • We recommend you consult each call to find out if you meet all the requirements.
