The SDM is a service of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences.

The SDM has its own organisation, comprising a steering committee chaired by the Dean of the Faculty and made up of representatives from the centre, the Office of the Vice-Rector for Research, the pharmaceutical profession and a users' council.

The executive management of the SDM is carried out by a technical director, and the administrative management is handled by the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation of the University of Barcelona.

 

  • Pilot plant for pharmaceutical technology, located in the basement of Building A, on the A level.
    It has basic facilities that meet the requirements for carrying out the following tasks:
    • Galenic research: pre-formulation studies, design, formulation and preparation of medicines.
    • Biopharmaceutical studies.
    • Formulation optimisation studies and manufacturing techniques.
    • Stability studies.
    • Process and technique validation studies.
    • Formulation and preparation of specific products.
    • Development of specialised training programmes.
    • Studies on the application of new processes for the pharmaceutical industry.
