These are training activities carried out in companies and institutions that help students acquire the skills needed for their future professional practice. External placements may be curricular (courses included in the study plan) or non‑curricular (academic activities not included in the study plan but which may be recorded in the European Diploma Supplement, provided that current regulations allow it).

To enhance students’ employability, the Faculty organizes a range of company and institution presentations, workshops and professional development activities each academic year. It also hosts the Forum of Businesses in the Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Sector and the Business Fair, which take place jointly and provide a direct point of contact between students and organizations.

The Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences organised the 1st Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Sector Employers’ Forum on 29 November 2018, to facilitate contact between future graduates, as well as master’s and postgraduate students of the Faculty, and companies or organizations that might be interested in them. This student–employer interaction may lead to grants, agreements for external placements or even employment contracts.
Following the pandemic, in 2021 it was decided to merge the Forum with the Business Fair, in which the Faculties of Biology, Earth Sciences, Pharmacy and Food Sciences, Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science, and Chemistry take part. Since then, both events have been held jointly.
