La Facultat

The Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences at the University of Barcelona has been welcoming new students to its classrooms for over one hundred and fifty years.

The Faculty is spread across two campuses. At the Diagonal Sud Campus, courses are taught focusing on the study of medicine in all its aspects. At the Torribera Campus, located in Santa Coloma de Gramenet, courses are taught related to food sciences.

This is the only public Faculty of Pharmacy in Catalonia. It aims to offer its students quality teaching, prestigious research and all the resources and services they need during their university life.

The Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences is a centre of excellence in education, research and knowledge transfer in the fields of pharmacy, nutrition and food science. Situated across two campuses, Diagonal and Torribera, it offers a high-level academic and scientific environment, with modern facilities, specialised laboratories and an internationally recognised teaching staff.
The courses offered range from the Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy to qualifications related to nutrition (Bachelor's degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics) and food science (Bachelor's degree in Food Science and Technology), and a range of master's degrees and postgraduate courses in these fields, with the aim of training professionals capable of meeting the health and nutrition challenges of the 21st century. Furthermore, the Faculty is committed to cutting-edge research in areas such as the development of new medicines, food safety and innovation in consumer habits.
With a clear international vocation and a close connection with the scientific and business community, the Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences consolidates itself as an open and dynamic centre of knowledge, which actively contributes to improving the health and well-being of society.

Organisation and structure

The Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences has a governing body composed of the dean, the vice-deans, the academic secretary and the centre administrator. These positions ensure the coordination and smooth running of all the Faculty's academic, research and management activities.

Also forming part of the governance structure are the faculty board, the faculty board's committees, the council of heads of department, the academic council and the coordinating committees for master's and doctoral programmes. These collegiate bodies ensure the participation of the entire university community in decision-making and in the continuous improvement of the faculty.
Departments are the basic units of teaching and research at the University and have specific responsibility for the teaching assigned to them by the study boards of the various degree programmes.

Administration

The Centre Administration is the management unit for the administrative and management services aimed at students, academic staff and also the technical, management, administrative and service staff assigned to the Centre Administration. It supports the initiatives of the governing bodies of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences and the Torribera Campus.
The Centre Administrator is the senior manager responsible for the centre's management and the management's delegated representative.

Faculty Activities

In addition to the classes, tutorials and seminars that form part of the day-to-day teaching of degree programmes and specialised courses, the Faculty hosts professional, outreach and research events, which are often open to the entire university community and the general public.

We host and promote activities designed to enrich the academic and personal lives of members of the UB community. As a student, you can take part in open days, business forums, social and entrepreneurial events, as well as initiatives that foster engagement with the Faculty.

The Faculty provides all its members with services and facilities to support study, teaching and research, enabling all groups to carry out university activities optimally.

Some examples of these services include the computer labs, the library with bibliographic resources supporting the Faculty's teaching and research programmes, and spaces such as the multipurpose room and the student room.
