Organization and methodology
The study program consists of a total of 60 ECTS credits.
To enroll in the Master's program, students must demonstrate prior knowledge of the subjects they will take, corresponding to those taught in the Accounting and Taxation specialization at the University of Barcelona. The Master's Coordinating Committee will assess the received academic records and decide whether it is necessary for students to take the aforementioned subjects.
Out of the 60 credits of the Master's, 20 correspond to common compulsory subjects, which can be taken partially or in full, depending on the student's level of commitment. The remaining 40 credits are distributed as follows: 17.5 credits correspond to compulsory subjects of the chosen specialization, 12.5 credits to elective subjects, and the remaining 10 credits correspond to the Master's Thesis.
In the Master's, students must choose one of the two specializations available: Accounting Specialization or Taxation Specialization.
Classes take place Monday through Thursday during the first semester, from 16:00 to 21:00, and from Monday to Wednesday or Thursday, depending on the elective courses selected, during the second semester, in the same time slot. The schedules vary depending on the courses selected.
The sessions combine lectures, theoretical-practical classes, workshops, seminars, conferences from professors or prestigious professionals, in addition to the student's autonomous tutored work.

Final work
According to the general regulations of the University of Barcelona (UB), as well as the specific regulations of the Faculty of Economics and Business, the official university Master's programs aim to provide students with advanced, specialized, or multidisciplinary training, oriented towards academic or professional specialization or the promotion of initiation into research tasks. They must conclude with the preparation and public defense of a Master's thesis.
Within this framework, this Master's program includes the subject "Master's Thesis" (10 ECTS credits) in its curriculum.
The Master's thesis (TFM) is a project focused on the development of research, through which students must integrate and apply —with creative and innovative criteria— the competencies acquired throughout the Master's program. Students must also be able to provide an efficient solution to the problems arising from the thesis itself. The TFM constitutes one of the key activities of the Master's, as it demonstrates the level of training acquired during the studies and represents almost one-third of the total curriculum. It is a research project developed within one of the research lines of the departments linked to the Master's program.
It may consist of a critical review of the literature on the topic being addressed, identifying the answers provided to the questions raised in the introduction, pointing out existing gaps, and proposing future development avenues. It can also be presented as original research, but it must include, in any case, a state of the art that positions the contribution of the work.
All theses must conclude with a section dedicated to potential future research and another presenting a summary of the main conclusions. Finally, the thesis must include bibliographic references, sources, and materials used, as well as any appendices deemed necessary.
Each thesis has a professor who acts as a tutor. The author must defend their TFM before a tribunal of three members, who will evaluate it. Generally, the theses are presented and evaluated during the first half of September, although there is the possibility of doing so in early July for students who need to apply for doctoral registration in mid-July.
Mobility
The Faculty of Economics and Business has an International Promotion Area that is responsible for managing the faculty's international mobility programs, seeking new agreements, and actively contributing to the internationalization of the center, especially for its students.
In this office, they will guide and assist you with international mobility.
Tutorial action plan
The coordinator conducts general coordination sessions and individual tutoring upon request by the students.
The Master's program has an information campus where all important matters of interest to the students are communicated: seminars, conferences, exam schedules, professional association events where students are invited to participate for free, job offers, etc. There is also an email address for contact (master.cif@ub.edu) to resolve doubts and provide support to the students.
Scholarships and grants
There are various scholarships and grants available at any stage of university education: for research, participation in exchange programs, summer courses, further studies or research abroad, working as a language assistant, internships in other countries, etc.
All this information can be accessed through the scholarship search tool on the student portal.
You can also check the scholarship announcements linked to the Faculty through the electronic office.
