Presentation
The Master's in Economics provides theoretical and empirical tools to analyze real economic problems and conduct research autonomously. With two of the five specializations in the program, students are qualified to work in areas such as higher education and economic consulting and research in public and private institutions, or to join a PhD program in economics.

Course curriculum
Organization and methodology
The learning methodology of the master's program is based on face-to-face classes, and student attendance is required. Full-time dedication is expected for this master's program.
The Master's in Economics consists of 120 credits. During the first and second semesters, students study a series of core subjects (40 credits), including Mathematics, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and Econometrics.
In the third, fourth, and fifth semesters, students must take elective courses (60 credits) and complete two of the master's areas, allowing them to specialize in fields of interest for their future profession or research. The available options are as follows:
- Public Economics
- Regional and Urban Economics
- Growth and Trade
- Governance and Markets
- Games, Behavior, and Incentives
Finally, during the sixth semester, students must complete the Master's Thesis (TFM) on a topic of their choice, based on the concepts and methods acquired throughout the program.

Final work
According to the general regulations of the University of Barcelona (UB), as well as the specific regulations of the Faculty of Economics and Business, official master's programs aim to provide students with advanced, specialized, or multidisciplinary training, oriented toward academic or professional specialization, or the promotion of research initiation tasks. These programs must conclude with the preparation and public defense of a master's thesis.
Within this framework, this master's program includes the Master's Thesis course, worth 20 ECTS credits.
Mobility
The Faculty of Economics and Business has an International Promotion Area that is responsible for managing the faculty's international mobility programs, seeking new agreements, and actively contributing to the internationalization of the center, especially for its students.
In this office, they will guide and assist you with international mobility.

The Master's in Economics is a program where students and professors work together in an environment of mutual respect, adhering to the highest standards of personal conduct. The goal of the teaching staff and support personnel is for our students to successfully complete the master's program, working to help them improve their skills and prepare them to achieve their academic and professional goals.
Student support at UB School of Economics is fully personalized. During the academic year, informational sessions are offered on various topics of interest to students: orientation sessions for registration, informational sessions on Erasmus agreements, and the Master's Thesis informational session, among others.

There are various scholarships and grants available at any stage of university education: for research, participation in exchange programs, summer courses, further studies or research abroad, working as a language assistant, internships in other countries, etc.
