Final work
According to the general regulations of the University of Barcelona (UB), as well as the specific regulations of the Faculty of Economics and Business, official master's programs aim to provide students with advanced, specialized, or multidisciplinary training. This training is oriented toward academic or professional specialization or toward fostering initiation into research activities and must conclude with the completion and public defense of a Master’s Final Project (Trabajo Final de Máster – TFM).
Within this framework, this master's program includes the Master’s Final Project course, worth 15 ECTS credits, as part of its curriculum.
The Master’s Final Project (TFM) is a research-oriented project through which students must integrate and apply—creatively and innovatively—the competencies acquired throughout the master's program. Additionally, students must be able to provide an efficient solution to the problems arising from the project itself. The TFM is one of the key activities of the master's program, as it demonstrates the level of knowledge acquired during the studies and represents nearly one-third of the total curriculum. It consists of research developed within one of the research lines of the departments linked to the master's program.
The project may take the form of a critical review of the existing literature on the chosen topic, outlining the answers that have been provided to the research questions posed in the introduction, identifying existing gaps, and suggesting possible avenues for future development. Alternatively, the TFM can be presented as an original research study; however, it must include a literature review that contextualizes the contribution of the work.
All projects must conclude with a section on potential future research and a summary of the main conclusions. Finally, at the end of the document, students must include a bibliography, sources, materials used, and any necessary appendices.
Each project is supervised by a faculty member who serves as a tutor. The student must defend the TFM before a three-member panel, which will evaluate the work. In general, projects are presented and assessed during the first half of September, although there is an option to do so in early July for students who need to apply for doctoral program enrollment by mid-July.
Mobility
The Faculty of Economics and Business has an International Promotion Area that is responsible for managing the faculty's international mobility programs, seeking new agreements, and actively contributing to the internationalization of the center, especially for its students.
In this office, they will guide and assist you with international mobility.
Tutorial action plan
The coordinator holds general coordination sessions and provides individual tutoring upon student request.
The master's program has an information platform where all important updates relevant to students are communicated, including seminars, conferences, exam schedules, professional organization events (in which students are invited to participate free of charge), job opportunities, and more. Additionally, there is a dedicated contact email address (mgc@ub.edu) to assist students with inquiries and provide support.
Scholarships and grants
There are various scholarships and grants available at any stage of university education: for research, participation in exchange programs, summer courses, further studies or research abroad, working as a language assistant, internships in other countries, etc.
All this information can be accessed through the scholarship search tool on the student portal.
You can also check the scholarship announcements linked to the Faculty through the electronic office.
