Itineraries and mentions
What is a mention/itinerary?
The Business Administration and Management degree offers you the opportunity to specialize in four different areas of the business world:
- Accounting and Taxation
- Finance and Insurance
- Marketing and Market Research
- Business Organization
To obtain a mention/itinerary on the European Supplement to your degree, out of the forty-two elective credits you must complete, at least thirty must be specific to the chosen mention.
Choosing a mention/itinerary is done through enrollment in the corresponding subjects; therefore, there is no pre-registration process.
Organization and methodology
General information
The teaching is structured by semesters, and in general, the subjects are organized into face-to-face activities, guided work activities, and autonomous study activities.
Face-to-face sessions consist of lectures delivered by the instructor and discussions with students on the subject matter and the problems arising from its theoretical concepts and practical application. Guided activities aim to develop tasks carried out by the students, as well as the review of these tasks.
The Teaching Plan for each subject is the document that outlines both the contents and the teaching and learning methodologies, as well as the assessment systems. In general, the teaching methodologies used in the degree include: lectures, expository classes, conferences, group work, written assignments, information research, case studies, practical exercises, application activities, problem-solving, project development, simulations, and external internships.
Study intensification groups
The bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Management offers teaching groups addressed to the following subjects:). These are the so-called Study Intensification Groups (GIEs). These groups have the following characteristics:
- Only students who have already enrolled and have not passed that subject can enrol in a GIE group of a subject. For those students who enrol forthird time a subject, it will be mandatory to enrol in these groups. Students enrolling the subject for the second time may choose GIE group or "normal" group
- The subjects of the GIE groups will have two hours of face-to-face teaching a week. The main feature of these groups is that they have a special intensive methodology in the Virtual Campus.
- GIE groups are identified with the letters Y (first semester) i Z (second semester).
- The teaching of these groups will be carried out in the time slot of 14:30 to 16:30 hours so that they are fully compatible with the teaching schedules of the traditional groups, avoiding any overlap.
- There will be continuous evaluation and attendance is indispensable to follow this continuous evaluation.
- These groups follow the same teaching plan as traditional groups and will have the same level of requirement to pass the subject.

Evaluation system
The ordinary system of evaluation of the subjects is the continuous evaluation. This evaluative route consists of a series of activities and / or evaluable works throughout the semester, which can be concluded in a final synthesis test. This set of evaluable activities must allow to accredit the achievement of the objectives of the subject included in the teaching plan, both in terms of the competences to be acquired and the skills to be developed, as well as in terms of the theoretical or conceptual knowledge of the subject that the student must achieve and that must allow him to solve the activities applied in the practical aspect. The student also has the possibility of taking the single assessment under the conditions set by the regulations of the University of Barcelona. The subjects have a single assessment call. But there is the possibility of re-evaluating a subject when it has not been passed initially (either through the continuous evaluation or through the single evaluation). The calendar of final tests (evaluation and re-evaluation) is approved by the Academic Council and published on the teaching website at the beginning of the academic year.
The syllabus of each subject contains all the information related to the evaluation system of each of the modalities.
