Regulations
The Faculty of Economics and Business, created by orders IUE/364/2008, of 21 July, and IUE/393/2008, of 29 July, in accordance with articles 13 and following of the Statute of the University of Barcelona, approves its Regulations, by agreement of the Faculty Board on 29 April 2009. The Faculty of Economics and Business is heir to the Faculty of Economics and Business Studies and the University School of Business Studies: it takes on the legacy of the life of the two former university centres and is responsible for all the activities they were entrusted with.
The report on the creation of the Faculty resulting from merging the two centres sets out the reasons for the merger and the challenges the new Faculty is now facing. It also points out some lines of action regarding the organization, including the necessary asymmetry in the governing bodies.
The Faculty brings together a wide range of studies, as well as increasingly powerful research, which makes it large and complex. It requires a network of bodies that can effectively contribute to the achievement of high-quality standards. The new organization, as a result of the adaptation to the European Higher Education Area, is reflected in the distinction between the three levels of higher education: bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees. This regulation seeks to adapt to this organization, which will undoubtedly also be reflected in the University Statute.
