Below, we detail the key aspects you should consider when applying for an international mobility program.
1. Mobility Programs and Applications
  • You can submit multiple applications simultaneously if they are for different programmes. Additionally, you can request more than one destination within the same application.
  • Review the requirements, deadlines, and documentation for each programme.
2. Choosing a destination:
  • Studies: Verify that the placement is available for your field of study and that the courses match your interests.
  • Languages: Ensure you meet the language requirements, including certificates if necessary.
  • Other Requirements: Check for specific conditions such as minimum grades, period restrictions, or others.
3. Courses and Academic Calendar of the Host University
  • Review the course offerings and academic calendar of each university.
  • Some destinations are better suited depending on the semester; plan accordingly.
4. Expenses and Visas
  • Get information about the cost of living and visa requirements, especially if the university is outside the EU. Prepare documents such as bank or medical certificates if necessary.
5. Additional Information
  • Visit the website of the international relations office of the host university.
  • Contact them if you need more information about courses, accommodation, or services.
The application period for mobility programmes varies depending on the chosen programme. The main and most popular calls, such as Erasmus+ Studies, Global Faculty, and Global UB, follow this calendar:
  • Application dates: October-November, for next academic year mobilities.
  • Resolution dates: January.
For other programmes, you can find the calendar on the corresponding webpage.
If you want to participate in an international mobility program, we recommend taking advantage of elective courses, especially during the first semester of the 4th year, due to their flexibility. Academic recognition follows the Faculty’s Academic Equivalence Regulations. Review them to understand what can and cannot be recognized.
Key Points:
  • Mandatory Courses: Must have similar content and credits to those at UB.
  • Elective Courses: Easily recognized, including courses related to your degree (Erasmus elective).
  • Limitations: Sports courses, or courses related to Spanish or Catalan studies are not recognized.
Keep in mind that final selection depends on factors such as course availability and the approval of your DEA (Academic Equivalence Document). To minimize uncertainty, carefully review the course offerings before applying and plan your mobility experience with electives in mind.
The benefits of exchange programs far outweigh these possible challenges!
Double Degree Students
  • Participation: They can participate in any mobility program (same process and deadlines as other students).
  • Application: Must be submitted through only one of the double degree programs (not both faculties).
  • Destinations: Ensure that the courses at the host university match the curriculum of at least one of the degrees.
EUS Students
  • Participation: They can access any international mobility programme at UB.
  • Recommendation: It is advised to go on exchange during the first semester of the 4th year.
  • Considerations: If a full-year exchange is taken during the 4th year, internships may need to be postponed to the following academic year.
Master's Students
  • Participation: They follow the same conditions as undergraduate students, but the destination must have specific spots for master’s students.
  • Application Timing by Master's Duration:
    • One-year master’s: Apply in the extraordinary period (September) for the second semester.
    • One-and-a-half-year master’s: Apply during the ordinary (October/November) or extraordinary (September) period, depending on the academic adequacy.
    • Two-year master’s: Preferably in the ordinary period but also open in the extraordinary period, depending on the academic adequacy.
  • Coordination: Consult with the master's programme coordinator to ensure academic compatibility and choose the right period.
The benefits of participating in a mobility program are numerous. Here are the main ones:
  1. Language Improvement: Significant enhancement in foreign language skills due to total immersion.
  2. Academic and Cultural Enrichment: Access to new academic perspectives and diverse cultural experiences.
  3. Better Career Prospects: International experiences are highly valued by employers and improve job opportunities.
  4. Personal Development: Increased autonomy, confidence, security, maturity, and tolerance.
  5. International Connections: Lifelong friendships and global networking opportunities.
Testimoni de la Copenhagen Business School
Copenhagen Business School
Denmark (DK-KOBENHA05): "All the friendships I made in Copenhagen are still my friends today and will be for life. Some even found jobs through Erasmus connections. This experience not only provides unique and new moments but also opens doors to career opportunities. In today’s world, that is a luxury."

Testimoni de la Universitat de Bolonya
Università degli Studi di Bologna
Italy (I-BOLOGNA01): "I was able to practice the language daily, and thanks to Erasmus, I feel highly motivated to continue my studies and professional life in other EU countries, as well as to learn new languages and cultures. I firmly believe Erasmus fosters tolerance, culture, and personal independence in young people."

Testimoni San Diego State University
San Diego State University
USA (USA-CAL-SD): "My experience was a 10/10. I had always dreamed of living in the U.S. for a while, and it truly was a dream come true. I travelled all over California, experienced a completely different lifestyle, and fell in love with it. Honestly, readjusting here was harder than adapting there!"

Testimoni de la Warsaw School of Economics
Warsaw School of Economics
Poland (PL-WARSZAW03): "This experience marked a turning point in my life. [...] I met people from all over the world, which gave me a broader perspective on our global society. Academically, studying in Eastern Europe teaches you a lot. Professors use real-world examples tied to the political, social, and economic context of Central and Eastern Europe. It helps you see things in ways you wouldn't at your home university. Living in Warsaw is amazing—it’s becoming one of the most important cities in Eastern Europe, alongside Budapest. Poland is a dynamic economy that will grow in importance in the coming years. Without a doubt, it is an ideal destination."
Testimoni Reutlingen ESB Business School
Reutlingen ESB Business School
Germany (D-REUTLIN02): "The experience, in general, could not have been better. All the references I was able to check before my stay were positive, and after finishing my experience, I can confirm it. Participating in an international mobility program gives you the opportunity to discover new ways of living, understand other cultures, and, overall, grow as a person. All I can do is recommend ESB Business School, Reutlingen, and Germany to anyone who wants to take part in an international mobility programme."
Testimoni de la Göteborg Universitet
Göteborg Universitet
Sweden (S-GOTEBORG01): "The last ten months in Gothenburg have been one of the best experiences of my life, both socially and academically. UB’s Erasmus program allowed me to experience a completely different lifestyle from what I was used to in Barcelona. The University of Gothenburg focuses heavily on teamwork but also values personal responsibility. Overall, it has been an almost perfect experience."
