Message from the Dean

Welcome to the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Barcelona.

As the first faculty to train economists in Catalonia, we have a long-standing tradition, and today we combine this academic heritage with a strong commitment to high-quality services that ensure the best professional future for our students.

We offer a wide range of programmes, certified by the Catalan University Quality Assurance Agency (AQU). Currently, we offer five undergraduate degrees (Business Administration and Management, Economics, Statistics, Sociology, and International Business) and four double degrees (Business Administration and Law, Business Administration and Chemistry, Business Administration and Sociology, and Economics and Statistics). We also offer nineteen official master’s programmes, six doctoral programmes, and a broad selection of postgraduate courses (including lifelong learning master’s degrees, microcredentials, and other lifelong learning opportunities).

In research, the Faculty holds leading positions in the main national and international rankings in the fields of economics, business, and sociology. Thanks to international talent recruitment through the job market and other competitive calls, we stand out for a high level of internationalisation and strong potential in academic research output, as well as in securing competitive research funding and engaging in knowledge transfer activities. In addition, the Faculty hosts several academic chairs, managed in collaboration with various institutions and organisations, that deepen the study and research of specific topics in different areas of knowledge.

With more than eight thousand students, seven hundred teaching staff and one hundred members of the technical, management, administrative and service staff, the Faculty provides excellent support services and is strongly committed to continuous improvement and quality.

Our drive for internationalisation is also reflected in the fact that students can choose from nearly two hundred partner universities in Europe, the Americas and Asia to complete part of their studies abroad.

We also have a pioneering and dynamic Career Services Office, which manages hundreds of internship opportunities in companies and other organisations, provides job search guidance, organises company and institution presentations, and offers courses and seminars to support a successful transition into the professional world.
