Equal Opportunities

Presentation and objectives

The Equality Committee of the Faculty of Economics and Business was created to promote respect and equality of rights and opportunities for women and men. This objective also includes applying equality policies regarding people with functional diversity, eliminating obstacles and promoting the conditions for all people to achieve their intellectual, professional and human development.

On 1 July 2019, the Faculty Board approved the framework regulations for equality committees, drawn up by the UB’s Equality Unit, to which we adhere.

Team

The Equality Committee is formed by between five and ten people, in which all groups of the university community must be represented: the teaching staff; the technical, management, administration and services staff, and the students.

It is not necessary to be a member of the Faculty Board to be a member of the Equality Committee, although the appointment of the people who are part of the Committee is the responsibility of the Board.

Action lines

One of the aims of the Equality Committee is to make visible and raise awareness of the different forms of inequality and discrimination in the Faculty, and to publicize the actions and resources designed to correct them. The tasks of the Commission are aimed at all members of the community (PDI, PTGAS and students) and third parties linked to the centre.

The main lines of action are:

  • Working for the development, monitoring and evaluation of proposals for action aimed at correcting inequalities.
  • Promoting the gender perspective in teaching and research, and equality and non-discrimination in all areas of the Faculty.
  • Ensuring the application of the Protocol of the University of Barcelona for preventing, detecting and taking action on situations of sexual harassment or harassment on the grounds of sex, gender identity or sexual orientation, or any other sexist conduct, following the established criteria and procedures.
