The Alumni Wall
Former students committed to new generations
A commitment to the future
Working together to tackle shared challenges
The Alumni Wall is a new university fundraising initiative of the Faculty of Economics and Business to raise additional resources to continue promoting projects to improve the public service offered by the University.
This initiative seeks the complicity and support of the collective of more than 50,000 alumni of the Faculty in the financing of projects that would otherwise not be able to be completed. The projects financed through this initiative are structured along three main lines of action:
- Internationalization and talent attraction
- Research funding for trainee researchers
- Improvement of infrastructures and equipment
The minimum donation is €50 and goes entirely to the programme selected by the sponsor at the time of application.
As an expression of gratitude, the Faculty will stamp the name, the studies and the graduation class of those former students who donate at least €130, on a plaque to be placed on one of the walls inside the Faculty.
In addition, those former students who make a donation of at least €530 will also have their name on one of the chairs in the Faculty’s Ernest Lluch graduation hall.
1. Who can have a plaque?
Any former students of the Faculty who has completed a degree and makes a donation of at least €130.
Memorial plaques can also be made for alumni. In this case, the donor should indicate this in the “Additional information” section of the donation form.
2. What size is the plaque?
28,5 cm x 5,5 cm.
3. What information appears on the plaque?
Each plaque bears the full name of the alumnus, the programme he or she completed at the Faculty, and the graduation year. Only one person’s name may appear on a plaque.
Information concerning the degree and graduation year is obtained from the records of the University of Barcelona.
4. After a donation has been made, when is the plaque placed on the Wall?
Although the list of sponsors is updated monthly, the printing of the plaques is done in sets of fifty.
The number assigned to the plaque and the date it will be placed on the Alumni Wall is confirmed by e-mail to the person.
5. In what order are the plaques placed?
Plaques are ordered by decade, and within each decade by the year when alumni completed their first degree at the Faculty. If two or more alumni completed degrees in the same year, their plaques will be placed in alphabetical order by surname.
6. Can information be added to a plaque after it has been placed?
If a new degree must be added to a plaque after it has been placed, the donor may request that a new plaque be printed. There is a €30 charge for this service.
7. Is it necessary to be a member of UB Alumni to make a donation?
No.
8. Are there any tax benefits for donations to the Alumni Wall project?
