Doctoral Studies
The University’s doctoral programme in Economics is aimed at training researchers in the field of economics. It is one of the few doctoral programmes to have received the Menció de Qualitat per a l'Excel·lència en Recerca (quality award for excellence in research) from the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports.
Doctoral students will find a very active and stimulating environment with participation in different complementary activities such as weekly research seminars, workshops, conferences, courses and other research activities in which they can always participate.

The University’s doctoral programme in Business is aimed at training researchers in the different areas of business management. Students will carry out research activities in areas such as accounting, finance, insurance, business strategy, operations, quality, marketing, entrepreneurship, human resources, innovation, business history, game theory and uncertainty in decision-making.
Throughout the programme, doctoral students participate in many complementary activities, including research seminars, workshops and courses. They are also encouraged to publish their research in specialized journals and to course a part of the studies at other universities or research centres.

The interuniversity doctoral programme in Gender Studies: Cultures, Societies and Politics, promoted by the Inter-university Women and Gender Studies Institute (IIEDG) and made up of research groups and researchers from the UAB, UB, UdG, UVIC-UCC and URV, aims at innovation in interdisciplinary research and investigation.
The research promoted by this doctoral programme is articulated in different lines of research that share the aim of introducing the gender perspective in research, as well as contributing to the development of the values of equality and the improvement of the welfare of women and men in a fair and more equitable society.

The interuniversity doctoral programme in Economic History at the universities of Barcelona, Carlos III de Madrid and Valencia aims to train researchers specializing in the branches of economic history, who can analyse, understand and solve problems related to the long-term economic development of societies based on the analysis of the economic information available and to create knowledge in the long historical activities available, and to create knowledge in the various branches of historical history available.
During the programme, students are required to attend research methodology seminars, various courses given by visiting professors and other research training activities.

The University’s doctoral programme in Sociology offers quality training for sociological research oriented towards the analysis of society in all its components — structural, cultural and relational — and also of its change and transformation. It also contributes to the development of successful academic careers for doctoral students.
Doctoral students participate in various activities — complementary to the Doctoral Seminar or the annual “Sociologia en progrés” research conference. They are also encouraged to publish their research in specialized journals, to attend national and international sociology conferences, and to undertake temporary stays at other universities or research centres.
