Buddy Programme

The Buddy Programme aims to promote contact and interaction between the Faculty’s students and international students who are completing a mobility stay with us. The programme is an initiative of the International Relations Office at the Faculty of Economics and Business, launched in the academic year 2010-2011. As of 2013-2014, the programme has carried credit recognition for students, who can obtain one to two credits for participating.

For Faculty students, the programme allows them to engage with the international dimension of our centre, even if they are not participating in a specific international mobility programme. It also broadens their cultural horizons, enabling them to meet and help students from other cultural and linguistic backgrounds, greatly enriching their university experience. The programme also aims to encourage students to take part in the range of official mobility programmes on offer.

For international exchange students, the programme ensures a more rewarding experience during their stay with us, helping them learn more about the diversity of our city and institution. It also fosters their social and cultural immersion and may help them build contacts and connections that outlast their stay with us, as we hope will also be the case for Faculty students.

Created by the International Relations Office, this programme is an excellent opportunity to experience cultural diversity, create unique connections, and enrich your experience.

Faculty students: Local Buddies

If you are a Faculty student, you can be a local buddy and help international students with aspects of your studies (using the CRAI libraries, contact professors, give advice on courses) and cultural or practical aspects of daily life (cultural immersion, information about the city, etc.). Participating in the programme allows you to:

Practise languages and improve your communication skills.
Meet students from other countries and cultures.
Help with your knowledge of the local environment.
Obtain one or two academic credits.
Make lifelong friends!

Exchange students: International Buddies

If you come to our centre as an international student, you have access to a local buddy who can help you:

Integrate academically and socially.
Resolve doubts about the Faculty, Barcelona or Catalonia.
Enjoy the welcome activities and meet other students.

Additionally, you can connect with buddies via email or through the International Office’s Facebook group. The relationship you establish with your buddy depends on both of you, and the experience can greatly enrich your stay at our centre.
