Objectives and competences
This microcredential offers specialized training in preventive conservation of bibliographic heritage. It includes regulatory frameworks, analysis of document materials and bindings and learning of degradation agents. It addresses protocols to minimize risks (environmental, handling, storage) and presents basic restoration criteria and treatments applicable to manuscripts, printed matter and graphic work.

- Know how to assess the state of conservation of a collection or heritage fund and the actions that must be taken if it needs to be changed.

Recommended applicant profile
Preferably, library and archive professionals who need to acquire new knowledge and skills in relation to the conservation of buildings, materials and appropriate treatment in their manipulation, as well as in the detection of the main pathologies of documentary materials. Especially, workers in centres that have a direct relationship with documents on paper and parchment. The content is also relevant to students in the Department of Library and Information Science. And it may be of interest to students of Fine Arts, History of Art, History or Humanities.Access requirements and conditions
