Objectives and competences

This master's programme offers advanced and multidisciplinary training in clinical, basic, and translational research in hepatology. The programme has a research- and evidence-based approach to deepen the understanding of the mechanisms of chronic liver diseases, diagnostic tools, the design of observational and interventional studies, and the most innovative therapeutic options. It includes updated content on decompensated liver cirrhosis and acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF), and promotes the application of scientific knowledge to clinical practice.

Objectives

To offer specialized and multidisciplinary training in clinical, basic, and translational research in hepatology. The programme aims to equip healthcare professionals and researchers with the necessary skills to better understand the mechanisms of chronic liver diseases, apply innovative diagnostic and therapeutic tools, and translate scientific knowledge into clinical practice to improve patient care.

Upon completing the course, participants should be able to critically analyze the latest publications and research, apply evidence-based strategies in patient care, and contribute to the development of new therapeutic and diagnostic approaches. The ultimate goal is to prepare committed professionals who are capable of bridging research with clinical practice, leading or collaborating in innovative initiatives in the field of hepatology, and actively participating in clinical and strategic decision-making.

Professionals from various fields, including the clinical setting, academic research, and the healthcare industry. It is especially relevant for hepatologists, intensivists, pathologists, and other specialists involved in the care of patients with chronic liver diseases. It is also recommended for clinical researchers, healthcare professionals, and industry experts interested in translational research in chronic liver diseases.

Applicants must hold a degree in medicine, biomedical sciences, statistics, or a related field, and have an interest in basic, translational, or clinical research in hepatology. No specific prior experience is required for admission.

Access requirements and conditions
