Objectives and competences

The FCCS-CM (Fundamental Critical Care Support), formerly known as FDM (Fundamental Disaster Management), is a course designed by the Society of Critical Care Medicine. Its content is standardized and focused on theoretical learning and practical skills, which prepares health professionals to face situations and treat victims of natural disasters or events of multiple victims that are caused by human beings (terrorism, nuclear accidents, chemicals, etc.). It provides skill to professionals so that they can handle critical care response in large-scale disasters.

- To be able to treat victims of natural catastrophes or events with many victims caused by humans (terrorism, nuclear accidents, etc.).
- Acquire the skills to manage hospital treatment for critical patients in disaster scenarios.

Physicians and Nurses with interest in addressing critically ill or emergencies and who want to deepen the management of disaster situations

Access requirements and conditions

The course is also open to students with no prior university education, who will acquire the same knowledge and skills and receive a specific qualification for their learner group. Information on the access requirements and other conditions can be obtained from the course directors.
